Since the tragic and untimely death of Marilyn Monroe over 50 years ago, conspiracy theories have been rife. There was speculation that she was killed by the Kennedy dynasty or even the FBI. However, over half a century on, a documentary has uncovered a wholly more likely scenario, having reviewed her medical records and revisited her biopsy results.
A new documentary claims Monroe’s doctor was negligent
Dr Engelberg was personal physician to the actress. After her death, he denied prescribing her a drug called Nembutal. The documentary claimed to have proof that Engelberg did in fact give Monroe a new prescription of Nembutal just days before her death. Medical experts have confirmed that when combined with chloral hydrate, Nembutal can cause respiratory failure.
Susan Liver is a partner at Birchall Blackburn Law and a Clinical Negligence specialist. She said:
“As with any doctor, Engelberg would have been responsible for Monroe’s wellbeing. If he did indeed prescribe a dangerous combination of drugs, he could have been found in breach of his duty of care.”
