Staff at the Morecambe office of Birchall Blackburn solicitors, Victoria Street, have raised £280 for St John’s Hospice.
They, along with two of the firm’s directors, raised the cash by singing festive songs in the Arndale Mall as part of their annual fundraising efforts, Birchall Blackburn then matched the sum collected.
The cheque was recently presented to St John’s Hospice, a place that has special significance to Birchall Blackburn’s staff, after the death of one of their colleagues, Malcolm Swaine, who sadly passed away in the hospice last year.
St John’s Hospice provides specialist care to those with life limiting illnesses and has facilities for both day and in-patients and relies of donations to be able to carry out that work.
Andrea Forrest, solicitor and head of licensing at Birchall Blackburn said: “We are committed to supporting charities in our community and helping to raise funds for St John’s Hospice allowed us to thank the team for all the care they gave to Malcolm.
“We had a great reception on the day from all those out shopping, people were very generous with their donations.
Anna Scott, fundraising officer at St John’s Hospice said: “We are always extremely grateful when groups from the local community choose to raise cash for the Hospice.
“Funds raised from events like this allow us to continue to plan for and provide vital healthcare and support to patients and families affected by life limiting illnesses in the local area.”
