A team of runners from Birchall Blackburn’s Churchtown office laced up their running shoes and strode out on a cold and brisk Sunday morning to take part in the AgeUK Wrap Up & Run 10k race held in Southport over the weekend to support the charity’s ‘Spread The Warmth’ campaign.
The charity’s ‘Spread The Warmth’ campaign aims to make the Winter months warmer for 360,000 people by providing information, advice and practical services to help the elderly people in our communities to keep warm and well in the colder months, and to reduce the number of elderly people who suffer and die needlessly as a result of the cold weather.
Thanks to the support of the firm and to the generosity of its employees and clients, the team was able to beat its fundraising target to raise much-needed funds for its local AgeUK branch.
Fiona Dillon, Partner and Head of Private Client, said, “By providing funds for this worthwhile campaign, we can hopefully make a difference to the lives of elderly people who suffer needlessly in the colder months’.
‘At Birchall Blackburn, we represent a large number of elderly and vulnerable clients, particularly in our Wills & Probate department, and are painfully aware of the issues that may affect their welfare. We therefore feel particularly responsible for ensuring that the elderly people in our community are made aware of the help and advice that is available to them on how to keep warm and healthy in the long Winter months’.
