Accounts Administration Assistant (fixed term contract), Preston

The Role
The Accounts Assistant is a key member of the payments team based in the busy accounts department. The role involves carrying out day to day financial administrative duties relating to legal transactions, providing the company with a high quality accounts service.
Applicants should have previous administrative and data input experience and a keen eye for detail. We are seeking a team player with strong numeracy skills and a high attention to detail.

Key responsibilities
· Payments: sending out payments relating to conveyancing and other legal transactions. This is done alongside and under the supervision of the payments team leader and other team members. It involves sending a range of different payment types out and fulfilling administrative tasks relating to the payments
· Banking: posting onto the finance system, banking administration including bank visits
· Assisting purchase ledger with administrative tasks as they arise, including posting search and referral invoices onto the finance system
· Processing cheques
· Taking card payments over the phone and posting these entries onto the company’s finance system
· General administrative duties including filing, photocopying, opening and sorting post received into the department

Key Skills & Experience
· High levels of numeracy
· Good IT skills, including Excel, Word and finance management software
· Excellent customer service skills, including professional and friendly telephone manner
· Ability to work to tight deadlines
· Strong organisational skills
· A keen eye for detail and high levels of accuracy
· Experience of working within an accounts department would be an advantage

Person Specification
· The ability to display a pleasant, but assertive manner in dealing with colleagues and clients
· An effective communicator both orally and in writing, having a good command of written English
· Personally efficient and well organised with a high attention to detail
· Enthusiastic team player with good interpersonal skills and a commitment to quality and client care
· Enthusiastic and willing to develop and gain experience in other areas of the accounts department

Fixed term contract (maternity cover)
Hours: 9.00am – 5.30pm – Monday to Friday, Full time
