Accounts Assistant

Accounts based position working within the Completions Team processing conveyancing related payments. To enable conveyancing Fee Earners to complete property transactions by processing the relevant payments accurately and in a timely manner.

Key responsibilities:

· Processing of BACs / CHAPs payment relating to conveyancing. This involves a high degree of accuracy and ability to work to tight deadlines. The team processes a high volume of payments and requires team members to work together to enable transactions to be processed.
· Co-ordination and scheduling work on a regular basis with Completions Team Leader to ensure payments can be processed throughout the day, including covering the payments database when necessary.
· May involve covering holidays, lunch breaks and other staff in the team as and when issues arise. Also due to the nature of the business the role may involve occasional later finishes to ensure late payments have been processed – however this is not expected to be a regular occurrence.
· Checking ledgers and verifying payment details.
· Payment of other invoices such as referral invoices and search fees.
· Input and maintenance of relevant information onto the data base, spreadsheets other records kept within the team.
· Additional Ad Hoc duties – e.g. Filing etc.
· As the team and company develop other or additional duties may come under the scope of the role.

Person specification:

· Knowledge of CHAPS and BACS payments an advantage but not essential.
· Ability to work under pressure. This is especially relevant at busy times when the volume of transactions goes up.
· Eye for detail due to high volumes of work and amount of monies being transferred.
· Enthusiastic approach and eagerness to learn.
· Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and workloads.
· Effective written and verbal communications skills
· Keyboard / IT Skills

Hours: 08.30am – 4.30pm – Monday to Friday, Full time
