Fundraisers at local law firm Birchall Blackburn gave a boost to older people by taking part in the recent Southport Wrap Up & Run race. Six members of staff from the firm completed the 10km sponsored run, raising £352.50 for Age UK. This was augmented by a £250 donation from the firm, allowing Charity Partner Moira Boyce to present a cheque for £602.50 to the charity.
Vivien Mumford, one of the Trustees of Age UK Lancashire who received the cheque commented, “I really want to congratulate the runners from Birchall Blackburn for completing the Wrap Up & Run 10k on a very cold, wet and windy day and also to thank them for raising so much sponsorship money. This donation will allow us to help older people locally, by offering them services such as information and advice, help with form filling, assistance with accessing affordable heating and befriending for isolated and vulnerable individuals.”
Moira Boyce, Charity Partner for Birchall Blackburn, said, “We were obviously delighted to be able to support this event in the local community; at Birchall Blackburn, we represent a large number of elderly and vulnerable clients, particularly in our Wills & Probate department, and are painfully aware of the issues that may affect their welfare. We therefore feel particularly responsible for ensuring that the elderly people in our community are made aware of this initiative and of the help and advice that is available to them on how to keep warm and healthy in the long Winter months.”
