Hundreds of swimmers took the plunge at the 38th annual Leyland Barracudas gala event which took place at Leyland Leisure centre.
Having previously provided prizes for the competition, Leyland-based solicitors Birchall Blackburn, sponsored a dedicated trophy for the 50 metres freestyle race, which it presented to the event’s winner.
The gala, which is run by the Leyland Barracudas swimming club, sees its members compete in 62 races across two days.
the ‘Birchall Blackburn Solicitors Trophy’, was won by Jacob Hughes after he swam the winning time of 33.25 seconds in the 50 metres freestyle race.
Cathy MacCracken, a partner at Birchall Blackburn, who presented the trophy to Jacob on the day, commented: “Birchall Blackburn is committed to supporting the local community in Leyland.
“It was an honour to present our very own trophy at the event this year.
“Its great to see how Team GB’s success at this summer’s Olympics has inspired these young swimmers – and from the performances I have seen here today, you never know, the gala may have uearthed some future Olympians too!”
