Asbestos Victim Receives Settlement

A woman with asbestos-related cancer has won her legal battle for justice as Birchall Blackburn Solicitors secured her a six figure settlement figure. Joyce Harding, 78 years old from Lowestoft, contracted the mesothelioma disease after her husband’s previous employer negligently exposed him to asbestos over 30 years ago. Between the years 1975 and 1977, Mrs Harding would welcome her husband Arthur home following his shift as an assistant caretaker, dust down his overalls and put them into the wash. The clothes however were contaminated with asbestos due to his work tasks in communal boiler rooms in a block of flats.

North-west law firm Birchall Blackburn has recently settled what is believed tobe the first successful claim in the Country arising from laser eye surgery. ‘LASIK’ stands for ‘laser assisted in situ keratomileusis’ and is a surgical treatment to correct mainly short-sightedness, carried out by ophthalmic surgeons. American Company Sued

OAPs across the UK are taking legal action against an American manufacturer after faulty lenses used in cataract surgery left them almost blind. A number of patients have asked North West law firm Birchall Blackburn to fight for compensation on their behalf, because the artificial lenses implanted into their eyes during cataract surgery have turned cloudy. At least 7 hospital Trusts throughout Britain appear to have used the defective lenses.
