Private Client Paralegal, Leyland (Job Ref: 3LEY)

Job Purpose

Assisting Partners and fee earners with their varied caseload of private client matters, ranging from drafting of Wills, administration of estates, preparation of estate accounts, drafting deeds of variation and all related taxation issues, Court of Protection, Lasting Power of Attorney, trusts and tax planning.

You will be responsible for the delivery of an excellent client service, which continually exceeds client expectations.

Key Responsibilities

Client Management

• Maintain and build good professional working relationships with clients, external institutions and organisations
• Develop and improve client service standards, encouraging a total customer care culture throughout your team
• Attend meetings with clients where required
• Deliver legal services of outstanding quality that are focused on the client’s needs with a quick and accurate turnaround of legal documents

Technical Responsibilities

• Conduct a variety of tasks to include general administrative tasks and support, answering the telephone, filing, printing, scanning and binding, photocopying, research, drafting correspondence, drafting simple wills, letter of wishes, trust documents, Lasting Powers of Attorney and all associated documents, assisting with simple probate administration and the preparation of Estate Accounts
• To work as part of the team to assist with providing private client services, undertaking fee-earning work and time recording accordingly
• To deliver a high quality service to clients, dealing with them on the telephone and face-to-face in client meetings
• Responsibility, under supervision, for assisting others within the Private Client group with their matters
• Preparation of correspondence and drafting wills and trust documents (with support) from precedents
• Proof reading, fact checking, and the ability to send confidential documents to clients and others unsupervised
• Case management and dealing with incoming emails and mail
• Arranging appointments, taking messages, receiving and delivering documents
• Open and close files in case manager
• Through training and other means, to keep fully up to date with relevant legislation and practice

Knowledge & Experience

• Previous legal work experience or academic knowledge and ideally with private client services experience (estate accounts and simple trust administration)
• A commitment to excellent client care and enthusiasm for private client work
• Excellent IT skills particularly with experience in Word, Excel and Outlook
• Attention to detail with effective administration skills
• Exceptional organisational skills
• Strong team working ethic

• Accurate and efficient time recording skills
• Able to identify problems, complaints and risk management
• Ability to work well under pressure and be proactive

• Able to work accurately and clearly explain technical matters to non technical users in both written and verbal forms
