Wills Week: Free wills in exchange for charity donation

Around 54% of adults in the UK haven’t yet got round to making a will, but Wills Week is here again to help people complete their wills whilst also helping a popular local cause.

St Catherine’s Hospice is hosting its annual Wills Week from the 9th to 13th November and, as always, we’ll be taking part. Writing a will is the best way to organise how you want your estate to be divided and to choose who you want to deal with everything after you’re gone, as well as an opportunity to list funeral preferences.

Throughout Wills Week, we waive our standard fee and instead ask you to make a donation to St Catherine’s Hospice. For a basic will, the hospice suggests a minimum donation of £95, or £145 for couples.

St Catherine’s Hospice is in the North West, near to our Chorley, Leyland and Preston branches, so it really is a community cause that’s close to our hearts. Wills Week raises funds to help St Catherine’s Hospice keep up the amazing work it does in specialist end-of-life care. You can also choose to leave a gift to St Catherine’s Hospice in your will, but this isn’t compulsory – find out how.

Cathy McCracken, Head of Private Client at Birchall Blackburn Law, said: “We are so proud to support St Catherine’s again this year for Wills Week. It’s now more important than ever to support our hardworking charities with much-needed funds. Our relationship with St Catherine’s Hospice goes back years, as our Chorley, Leyland and Preston branches are situated nearby. We’re hoping to raise more money for the hospice than ever before.”

Elaine Roberts of our Private Client team says, “St Catherine’s Hospice provides an invaluable service which is cherished by the local community. Our team really looks forward to supporting the hospice’s Wills Week campaign each November and I’m happy to say that our brilliant clients love to support it too!”
